For suburbs further away, please contact us for a tailored quote.

A: We accept EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, and cash, and offer HICAPS for on-the-spot private health claims.

A: Yes — we have a HICAPS machine so you can claim your rebate instantly (subject to your fund and cover). Please bring a physical or electronic version of your private health card to your appointment.

A: We use a mixed billing model. Some approved compensable schemes (e.g., certain WorkCover/DVA/MVA claims) have no out-of-pocket costs. Medicare EPC/CDM and private health typically involve a gap.

Referrals, Funding, Insurance & Claims

FAQ section 4

A: Not for private appointments. A referral is usually required for Medicare EPC/CDM, DVA, Workers’ Compensation, and Motor Vehicle Accident (ICWA) claims.

A: Yes — we accept EPC/CDM referrals. A Medicare rebate applies, and a gap payment usually remains.

A: A Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan allows eligible patients to access up to five Medicare-subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year, including physiotherapy, when referred by their GP.

If your GP determines your condition is eligible, they will prepare a CDM plan and referral. Please bring a copy of your referral (paper or electronic) to your first appointment at Lake Gwelup Physiotherapy.

On the day of your appointment, you pay the standard consultation fee. We then process the Medicare claim on your behalf using your Medicare details, and the rebate is paid directly into your nominated bank account, similar to a GP visit.

As of January 2026, the Medicare rebate is $61.80 per physiotherapy session (rebate amounts are indexed and may change). Any gap between the rebate and the consultation fee is payable by the patient.

A: Yes — we regularly manage work injuries and can liaise with your GP, insurer, rehab provider and employer to support safe recovery and return to work.

A: Typically, you’ll need a GP certificate/referral indicating a work injury plus a claim number or insurer confirmation. If approval is pending, you can start privately and keep receipts for potential reimbursement.

A: You would be responsible for fees incurred to date. We’ll explain options clearly so you can decide whether to continue privately.

A: Yes. Our physiotherapists regularly manage work-related injuries, provide functional assessments, work capacity reports and return-to-work plans. All our physiotherapists have over a decade of experience working with patients under workers compensation claims.

A: Yes — we treat approved ICWA/ Motor Vehicle Accident patients. A referral and claim approval are usually required.

A: Yes. Eligible DVA card holders can attend with a GP referral. There is no out-of-pocket cost for patients under DVA. Referrals under the Allied Health Services Treatment Cycle allow for up to 12 sessions or 1 year (whichever comes first). After this, your GP can renew the referral, ensuring ongoing care as needed.

A: Yes — we see self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants in clinic, via Telehealth, and via home visits where appropriate. We also offer hydrotherapy and gym-based rehab.

If you’re looking for hydrotherapy in Gwelup or Perth’s northern suburbs, we can advise on the most suitable pool location based on your condition, goals and availability.

A: Typically Monday and Thursday, 12:45–1:45pm (public holiday and school holiday availability may vary).

A: Yes — our hydrotherapy pool is heated to approximately 34 °C, making it ideal for pain relief, muscle relaxation and comfortable movement during rehabilitation.

The pool is accessible and patient-friendly, with:

  • Five shallow entry steps and handrails on both sides
